Beach Boy

It's been awhile! Gideon is 18 months old today and doing great! We visited the doctor this morning for his Well baby check-up and he is perfectly healthy! he weighed in at 23lbs. 15oz. and 31 1/4 in. long.

Over the long Memorial Day weekend we headed to Holland State Park to picnic with my family while they were camping. We visited Lake Michigan while we were there and Gideon had a great time :) We did have his swim trunks on, but they were a bit too big for him still, so we just went with lots of sun lotion and little swimmers.

Learning to use a spoon

At our visit to Dr. Pandian yesterday we learned that Gideon should be feeding himself with a spoon now. I guess we were perfectly happy feeding him ourselves & didn't know this was something he should be doing. So today we jumped right in with yogurt for breakfast. This got pretty messy but he enjoyed it and did end up getting a majority of the yogurt in his mouth :)

....and yes, that is Miley Cyrus blaring in the background...

15 Month Well Baby

Just wanted to post about Gideons appointment today real quick.

A run through:

Spring is Almost here!

Gideon and I enjoyed some time outside the other day in the warm sun! It was so nice to get out in the fresh air without freezing! The snow is almost gone and we are so excited! Last night Chris, Grandma Leland, and I took him to the park for the first time this spring. He was a little hesitant but enjoyed watching the other kids run around and had a great time on the swing :)

Walking!!

Gideon has been cruising for sometime now, and has been walking short distances for about 2 months now. In the past week he has really taken off, so you could say he 'started walking' around 14 months. I'm so proud of our little guy :) Yesterday I removed the baby gate from his bedroom door so he now has full access to his room and the middle room which he is thoroughly enjoying!

Here he is, thats the sound he makes when he is really excited about something, like walking all the way to mommy :)

Snow Day

Although it has been winter for quite sometime I realized I had not taken Gideon out to play in the snow at all. This is mainly due to the fact that I just really don't like snow. I knew I had to take him out in it at some point to explore and see what the white stuff was all about & since we got plenty of it last night, I figured today might as well be the day! He wasn't exactly thrilled, which is probably due to the fact that he buried his face in it the second I set him free and realized it is very cold! Thankfully the dogs made the experience a little more enjoyable and he giggled as he watched them play. All in all our 5 minute snow adventure

was a success!

Jelly & Jam

On days where I have a lot of chores to get done I have to get creative with ways to keep Gideon busy. I have noticed the older he is getting the less I can get done around the house while he plays quietly in his bedroom or munches on Cheerios with me in the kitchen. So this morning we painted with red raspberry jam! What a mess! But he sure enjoyed it :)
